November is here! Lots to do before we wrap up 2015! Sit down or grab hold of something…here we go!!
Sunday, November 1: You get to sleep one whole extra hour! Take advantage of that and show up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed! Or spend that extra hour enjoying another cup of coffee…your choice! It is also the final day to turn in your Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. I saw lots of empty boxes Sunday morning…let’s get them filled to give to the kiddos! Want to know a little bit more about FBC and what we’re about? Pastor Garry will be starting another Membership Information Class on Sunday from 9:30-10:20 a.m. Check with him or contact the church office to sign up or ask questions. (This sure is a busy, busy day!) A Missionary Guest Speaker will be sharing about missionary life and ministry during both the 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. services. My notes do not include the name of our speaker…I’ll be honest, that makes me even more curious! Don’t miss this opportunity to be encouraged and to encourage another worker of Christ. See you there!
Sunday, November 8: This is one of those busy meeting days. You know the kind that start off with Council meeting at 8:30 a.m. and end with a Business meeting after the worship service. We’re talking 2016 budget, so be there! ‘Nuff said.
Wednesday, November 11: MOPS has a small group meeting from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Childcare will be provided.
Sunday, November 22: It’s time for the Church-wide Thanksgiving Fellowship. Standard Operating Procedure dictates that everyone bring some yummy, yummy food to share. We all eat too much food, clean up, take our leftovers and roll ourselves back home to take a NAP! That gives you three days to digest before you get to do that again!
Some of our ongoing Bible study opportunities:
Ladies Bible study will continue to meet on Mondays (the 2nd, 9th and 16th) at 6:30 p.m.
Men’s Bible study “Face Your Giants” will continue to meet on every other Thursday (the 5th and 19th) at 7:30 p.m. Contact Andy Sutton or Rod Pound for more info.
Don’t forget about your chance to spend part of a day packing meals for the Feed My Starving Children ministry. The event date is scheduled for Saturday, December 5. A flyer with the info has been in your bulletin and you can also check with Chris Blystone about all the important details. You need to sign up on foyer table ASAP to get accurate count.
If you’ve gotten this far, congratulate yourself…you’ve made it to the end! Now get up and get moving! As much as we’ll be eating this month, we’re going to need the exercise

It’s October, y’all! OCTOBER! I can’t even handle it! Miss Sue has given me loads of information to throw your way, so prepare yourselves…it’s gonna be a doozy!
Let’s start with Operation Christmas Child! There is a display table in the main foyer with everything you need…OCC info, packing tips and, most important, shoeboxes! Donna gave us a goal of 200 boxes…that is 200 children we can directly affect and show the love of Christ. There will be a gray tote for anyone wanting to donate individual items. Important dates are Wednesday, October 21, sewing day with Donna at the church at 10 a.m. and Wednesday, October 28, Shoebox Packing Party from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Final collection day for shoeboxes will be Sunday, November 1!
Saturday, October 10, is shaping up to be a very busy day! Starting at 8:00 a.m. is a church work day…lots of inside and outside jobs to accomplish before the weather gets challenging! (See how I put a positive spin on that? Let’s just say I prefer raking to shoveling!) Later at 5:30 p.m. (yep, same day!) head on over to Nick and Sheila Newnum’s place for a fellowship. This one is extra special to celebrate our time with Pastor Rick and his family. There will be lots of fun activities, good conversation and hot dogs to roast! Bring your chairs and a couple of the following: a covered dish, dessert, chips, s’mores stuff or pop. Hot dogs and buns will be provided. Now I know you wait with bated breath each month for this newsletter. Maybe you even frame it and put it on your wall. (Yeah, right!) Seriously, do NOT toss this one away because this newsletter has the directions you need to get to Nick and Sheila’s house! Here you go: Take 41 North approximately 10.5 miles to Tangier Rd. Turn left at the sub-station. Continue West to Co. Rd. 425. Turn Right on 425. Continue North ½ mi. Turn Left at the ‘T’. It’s the first house on the Left (Blue House). You can reach Nick or Sheila at 765-498-5132 or 765-505-2613. I plan to just follow all the cars and stop at the house that has the most cars parked in their yard! See you there!
MOPS news for October…There will be a Small Group meeting with childcare from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14 and a Play Date from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28. It is hard work raising littles! Getting a little adult conversation can be priceless to a stay-at-home mom! Reach out to your neighbors and the tired momma at the grocery store…invite them and let them know they are valued.
And for the kiddos…Our Kids 252 Program is moving back to Wednesday nights from 6:00pm-7:30pm, starting Wed. October 7th!! Light meal served at 6pm, and program 6:30pm-7:30pm.
Don’t forget the Bible studies that will be on-going in October: Monday nights from 6:30-8:00 p.m. for the ladies, and Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm, and Sun. nights at 6:00pm for everyone. And Men’s Ministry Study will meet every other Thurs. night starting on Thurs. Oct 22 at 7:30pm. Challenging studies…don’t miss out! That’s all I can fit it in! See you next month!

I hope that you are ready for September, because it is packed full of all kinds of great activities! I had to push out the margins just to fit all of it on one page! Grab a magnifying glass and your favorite beverage…this may take longer than usual!
A new season of “Fierce Flourishing” for MOPS will be starting on Wednesday, September 9. They will be meeting from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Being a mom of littles is hard work, y’all! They need some flourishing! And they need some help so they can flourish! Here’s how you can help: at least 3 more adults to work with the littles (9:30 a.m.-Noon) and volunteers willing to provide snacks for said littles! This help is needed just one time a month on the 2nd Wednesday. Contact Meredith Lund at 765-592-4405 or firstname.lastname@example.org to let her know how you can help.
On Saturday, September 12, Chris Blystone is taking a group of volunteers to Columbus, IN. Why?? Well, I’m glad you asked! There will be a food packing event for the “Feed My Starving Children” ministry. The work time slot is from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and he has space for 4 volunteers. Wave Chris down at church or e-mail him at email@example.com to show your interest. Pastor Rick is going to start a 7-week class beginning Sunday, September 13 and finishing up Sunday, October 25. The class will meet during the regular Sunday School hour (9:30-10:25 a.m.). The class will focus on giving individuals the tools they need to mentor and disciple others in a one-to-one relationship. Remember how Pastor Garry has been quizzing us on our mission? Love God, love others, make disciples? This will help you do that very thing! Give Pastor Rick a shout out if you are interested…firstname.lastname@example.org!
Ladies, I hope you’ve enjoyed your summer, but it’s time to get back into your routine! A new Ladies Bible Study will be starting on September 14, with a small change, as we’ll be meeting on Mondays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The study, “Divine Design” by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Mary Kassian, will last for 9 weeks and cover the topic of biblical womanhood. Our fearless leader, the lovely Lori Jones, will again do her best to talk louder than the rest of us (we can be so chatty!), encourage us (with chocolate…we hope!), and challenge us (ugh!) to be constantly growing in our faith and our walk with Christ. Last little bit of major info for the month is the Church Fellowship. The location for this shindig has yet to be determined…however!!!…it will be on Sunday, September 20, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. You know the drill…You come. Bring food. Talk to people. Simple! See you there!

O.K., technically summer still has another month and a half to go, but families with kids…your summer is OVER! School is starting in the next couple of weeks! It’s crazy! If your kids are complaining, let them know two teens started their school year and already have one week under their belts. Yes, please pray for my children…they have a mean mommy! Let’s gear up for August…
Sunday, August 2, is our usual busy business meeting day. There is a Council meeting at 8:30 a.m. and the Business meeting will be right after the morning worship service. We will be voting to affirm new members and the rest is just standard operating procedure (SOP), but we’d love to see you there! It’s your duty as a member, ya know!
The Alaskan Mission Team is already at Kodiak Island! Woo Hoo! They arrived on July 28, and by “they” I mean Amy and Lexi South and Doug and Regina Overpeck. The South family will be returning August 8 and the Overpeck’s on August 10. Please be praying for them as they minister to the campers and encourage the other staff members. Thanks, guys, for representing FBC Rockville!
Wednesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 20, are scheduled MOPS play dates. Check with the women who know all things (about MOPS, that is!), Meredith Lund (765-592-4405) and Lainey McCrory (765-505-2610), for activity, place and exact time.
Deacons, this is a special line just for you! Meeting: Sun. August 9, 4:00 p.m. ‘Nuff said.
On Sunday, August 16, at 5:00 p.m., everyone should cook some yummy food and grab some lawn chairs. Pack all that up, brush off your very best conversational skills and head over to Rich & Kathy Keller’s house! Yep, it’s time for a Church-wide pitch-in fellowship. Festivities should wind down by 8:00 p.m. so moms and dads can get their young whippersnappers hosed off and in bed at a reasonable hour…it is a school night! There will be no 252 or other Bible studies that evening.
Last thoughts…While you are stocking up for the new school year, or at least while they are on sale, pick up some school supplies to put in your Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. This popular church-wide mission project starts in a couple months, so get ready folks! If you’re not familiar with OCC shoeboxes, do a Google search for Operation Christmas Child, and get all the details!
Speaking of missions, FBC just received a ‘Top Giving Church’ certificate from NAMB for our 2014 Annie Armstrong Easter Offering of $1931.00! We appreciate your giving heart!!
We really do have so much we can give! Now go be AWESOME!

It’s time to downshift into summer, people! June is upon us! Put the shovels away and change the oil in your mowers! And sunscreen…use sunscreen…you’ll thank me later!
MOPS is H.O.T.! So hot, they are needing more peeps to help them out this fall. Be thinking on that, praying on that, and listening to see if God is calling you to help in this ministry. They are starting their summer schedule with two play dates for the month of June…Wednesday, June 3, and Thursday, June 18. Time and location will vary depending on the activity planned. Want to know what, where, and exactly when? Get on the horn and call Meredith Lund (592-4405) or Lainey McCrory (765-505-2610) to get the details.
Have you been attending our church and thinking maybe this is where God would have you serve Him? Pastor Garry has just what you’re looking for! A new membership class will be beginning on Sunday, June 7. This class will meet from 9:30-10:20ish for four consecutive Sundays. Learn what the Bible has to say about church membership and how each of us is needed to fulfill our role in the church body!
Guess what? It’s been three months…Church Work Day! WOO HOO! WOO HOO! (C’mon…use your excited voice, jump up and down, and read that again!) While it would be very cool if the church would just clean itself, unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way! Ever heard of the saying, “Many hands make light work”? Carve out just a little time in your schedule for Saturday, June 13, between 8 a.m. and noon, and be an encouragement to your brothers and sisters in Christ. While you’re here, we can work on that self-cleaning idea…there are self-cleaning ovens, right? Just sayin’!
Sunday, June 21, is Father’s Day. We’d love to see you for morning worship, but after Pastor Garry says, “AMEN.” Run home, get the grill hot, throw on your burgers, steaks, bratwursts, or anything resembling MEAT! Then, let Dad nap (all afternoon if he likes) and don’t even wake him to ask him if he’s going to sleep ALL day. (I’ve never done that, by the way…) Since there will be no evening activities at church in our celebration of fathers, may I suggest an impromptu service at our local Dairy Queen? I can think of more than a few fathers that would find that heavenly!
