Hurray! We’ve survived the scorching heat of July! I was feeling just a tad crabby towards the end. How about you? School is starting back up, so rejoice ye parents! Here are all the goings-on for the month of August…

Sunday, August 4, is the day of meetings and All.The.Things. There is a Council meeting at 8:30am, a Business meeting at Noon, and a Missions meeting at 12:30pm. The Varsity Youth will be meeting immediately after church at the Suttons for their Back-To-School event. Teens, bring your swimsuit and a side of something edible, because y’all eat like the locusts from Exodus!
If that isn’t enough excitement for you, there is also a Church Fellowship at 5:30pm, so bring your favorite vittles and your best conversation tidbits to share.
If that still isn’t enough excitement for you, you can Pray the Halls at Parke Heritage High School from
6:00-7:00pm. Whew!

Wednesday, August 7, is the first day of school and to celebrate, the JV Youth will be having a Back-To-School Pizza Party at 6:30pm. Varsity Youth gets the night off to read Shakespeare.

Saturday, August 10, is the SCBI Missions Lifeline Training Conference at Calvary Baptist in Greenfield, IN. This is really for the entire family…kids PreK-6th grade will have a Missions Mini Camp and their lunch is free. Adults and teens can have lunch provided for $5. See Pastor Robert IMMEDIATELY to get signed up…RUN, don’t walk! You only have until August 1st to register.
Oh! And don’t forget there is also a church work day from 8am-Noon this day! Help is always appreciated!

Sunday, August 11, we will be having a Teachers Planning Meeting following the morning service. Lunch and child care will be provided. Please RSVP with either Ms. Sue or Deb to ensure we have enough hands for the littles, as well as plenty of grub. Be sure to watch the (4) videos you should have received through email, as we will be discussing them at the meeting.

Wednesday, August 14, TeamKID will start up for the 2019-2020 school year! Consider how can you serve this ministry this year? Ask Gary or Claudia Overpeck for details!
JV and Varsity Youth will be back in full swing then, too. Dinner starts at 5:45pm, with lesson time from 6:30-7:30pm. See you and all your kiddos there!

Sunday, August 25 at 5:30pm, the Missions team will welcome guest speaker and Operation Christmas Child spokesperson, Alina Aisina. She is a “Full Circle” shoebox recipient. Don’t know what that means? Come to the program and find out! This event will take place in the Fellowship Hall, with a meal and childcare to be provided by the Missions team. Come meet Alina and OCC representative, Marjorie Tate, to learn how the boxes you put together get in the hands of children all over the world to make an eternal difference.

Still got time on your hands, and looking for even more to occupy your time?? Gotcha covered! Go sort out all those unwanted shoes that you’ve stashed in your closet or under you bed! Our youth groups are collecting shoes for the ongoing BCM Shoe Drive. Shoes can be new or used, for all ages of kids or adults, and all sizes and styles! Just be sure they are gently worn, and in wearable condition. Before you bring your “unwanted’s” to the church, please be helpful, and tie the laced-up shoe pairs together, and rubber-band all other shoe pairs together! Makes sorting and packing all those shoes so much easier!!
