WHAT’S GOIN’ ON?! Newsletter

Ladies and gentlemen, we are on our final approach into 2016.  The pilot has turned on the seatbelt light and we ask that you stow all your loose items in the overhead bins.  Please return your seats and tray tables to their full, upright positions and prepare for what can be the craziest month of the entire year…breathe…it will be just fine!

December is usually an unusual month (see what I did there?). We have extra activities, activities that get cancelled for the holidays, lots of chances to eat more food…you get it!  Let’s talk kid-related activities first!  Kids 252 and Youth will meet as usual on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m., but only on December 2, 9 and 16.  MOPS will meet only on Wednesday, December 9, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. for their monthly Small Group meeting and childcare will be provided so they can have five minutes to themselves!  Breathe, mommas!  You’re doing great!

On to adult activities!  The Men’s Bible study will meet Thursday, December 3 and 17, at 7:30 p.m. and the Wednesday night Adult study will meet at 6:30 p.m. each week through the end of the year.  Sunday, December 6, is our last Council and Business meetings for the year.  You know how this goes…council meeting at 8:30 a.m. and business meeting following the morning worship service.  We’re voting on the 2016 budget, so it’s important for Andy to see all our smiling faces!

Activities for the whole family!  Saturday, December 5, Chris Blystone will be taking a group to Normal, IL, to serve the Feed My Starving Children ministry.  This would be a great way for even elementary-aged kids to see how their idea of food is different from other kids their age around the world.  Let’s raise up a new generation who have hearts for service and missions!  See Chris for details.  We have another Church Work Day on the books to spruce up just in time for Christmas and our guests!  Yay!  Meet up with your favorite church family members on Saturday, December 12, from 8:00-Noon, and prepare to sing carols while you work!  Or, if you prefer, you may run in place or from room to room and just watch those pounds melt away!  We’ll sweep them up while we clean!  What could be better than that?!  (Okay, I feel like I’m overselling this, but hey…I gotta try!…)

Moving on to the Lottie Moon offering and Candlelight Service…Envelopes will be passed out on Sunday, December 13, and the collection will be the following Sunday, December 20, during the morning worship service.  With Christmas falling on a Friday this year, the Candlelight Service will be on Sunday, December 20, at 6:00 p.m.  Let’s be intentional this year by slowing down the “Crazy” and preparing our hearts to celebrate the birth of our Savior with one another.  Then we can go out into a world that desperately needs Christ, and shine our lights for all to see!  Watch the bulletin for details…

That’s it for 2015, people!  We have arrived!  Gather your belongings and prepare to de-board!  See you next year!  Have a Merry Christmas!
